Hi all.

I'm quite worried about this mail from Mike Doty where he outlines an
idea that to me seems to make !non-devs second class citizens in the
gentoo development community. I believe this goes directly against the
gentoo spirit and stated intentions and would like to have the
foundations opinion on this important issue.

Looking at http://foundation.gentoo.org I particularly notice chapter
2 where it clearly states that:
- Gentoo is open
- Gentoo lives for the community, by the community

It seems to me that setting up obstacles for users (members of the
Gentoo community) to participate in the discussion on the primary
development list goes directly against this and I think it could prove
to be very harmful to Gentoo on a longer time-scale.

I'm sure you know about my own part in making it easier for the
community at large to be closely involved in the development through
the Bugday project but I think this can be harmful to all other
community oriented projects like User Relations and Sunrise as well.

Please consider the proposal by Mike Doty carefully and make sure it
doesn't conflict with core values of Gentoo as I'm afraid it does.

Regards,
Bryan Østergaard
